Beautifully illustrated by Tim Gillette, and written by Edward and Sarah Bolme this delightful series of board books specifically for youngsters is perfect for introducing babies and toddler to God’s Word! Baby Bible Board Books are sturdy, colorful, spiritual and the perfect size for little hands. I received this book, Jesus Heals a Little Girl, as a gift for review.

The illustrations are made with bright colors and simple images which easily keep my three year old daughter’s attention. At the end of the short book Exodus 5:26 is quoted: "I am the Lord who heals you." I would recommend this book to anyone with young children. This book has apparently become a permanent fixture in our family vehicle!

Fuji EnviroMAX Batteries are great in cameras.

AA digital-battery-4pack Eco Respectful I was provided several different sizes of these new green batteries to review. I was extremely impressed of how long they last. I was expecting green batteries not to have much power for some reason. However, I discovered quite the opposite! I have six children at home so batteries are as valuable (no actually more valuable) as gold! Lasting power is extremely important.

The true test of these batteries was my ten year old son, a little $20 digital camera and a trip to the zoo. The camera always sucked down the batteries before the pictures could be downloaded and with this camera, if the batteries die before the download...the pictures are lost forever! Very, very NOT GOOD!

I gave my ten year old the same ole speech.....remember...don’t get upset if the batteries fail... He took pictures all day long, kept the camera on most of the day, downloaded the camera, created a cute little book of pictures of his zoo trip, took yet MORE pictures, downloaded yet even more, and yet the batteries are still good! This was the very first time any batteries have lasted through one downloading, even those very expensive electronic batteries. My son is still using the camera and I am looking forward to more wonderful picture.

These batteries seriously impressed this busy mom of six! And green! Living Green is very important to me. These batteries are mercury, cadmium and PVC free, packaged with 75 % recycled materials, and may be disposed of in most landfills. Fuji–I am sold on your new batteries!

Don't forget to check out our giveaway!

Here are a couple of the photos my ten year old took while we were at the zoo:

Teaching children the importance of cleaning

Written by Huma Gruaz and Mark Rosenweig
Alpaytac Inc, Publisher

I received a copy of this book for review (from the publisher) just in the nick of time. I have five children at home and my stepdaughter visits with us for the summer. I received this book the week before her visit and used it to get my eight year old daughter to clean up her room for her step-sister’s visit!

How Cleaning My Room Changed My Life teaches kids the importance of cleaning. This is the story of Sam, an ordinary kid who is complete unorganized and suffering the consequences of a messy room. Sam is in jeopardy of losing his best friend if he cannot find a very special item he borrowed from her. He decides it is time to clean up his life a little. The story and colorful pictures kept the attention of all my younger children from cover to cover.

The step-by-step guide, "Secrets of Cleanland," at the end of the story is a valuable resource. It includes organization tips, easy-to-remember rhymes to help make cleaning fun and a certificate at the end of the book to encourage the child to continue living a more organized life.

I still owe my daughter the stick vacuum like Sam had in the story. That is definitely an investment I am very willing to make in order to get my children more organized! Thank you Huma Gruaz.

If Mama Don’t Laugh, It Ain’t Funny

Written by Lucy Adams

Palm Tree Press

if mama

A copy of this humorous book was provided to me for review. Lucy Adams is a hoot. Adams is a syndicated humor columnist, web blog host and second grade teacher. She shares stories of her life and motherhood with us with such an entertaining flair. She turns the everyday humdrum of being a mom into laughter and joy. I am the mother of six children so I could definitely sympathize with many, many of her "experiences". I am certain though that non-moms would also appreciate her humor as well.

Here is a snippet from her story about burying their beloved pet Jimmy (the watermelon), "My spouse said a few words over the dissected: "Here rests Jimmy, red and green, put to pasture by the Queen of Mean. [I shot eye darts at him] Poor Jimmy, a life cut quick, by a woman who needed a Ginsu fix. [I glared] Okay. Sorry. Sorry," he chuckled. "Jimmy, we hate that you fell to pieces man."

Adams’ southern charm also comes out in "A Pig that Good," "Difficult Decisions" and "Oh, the Delirium of Summer." She also shares about marriage in "Rambling My Way to Purgatory." Short story after story will have you laughing...at least this mama was laughing.

Peek-A-Boob Strips

Sunday, January 25th, 2009
These neat little strips are quite clever. They can be used to seal gaps in your blouse, hold shirts to bra straps, or even keep those low V-neck shirts from dipping too low. The little tin they come with is absolutely perfect for any purse. I’m certain if you blow a button, these handy little strips would come right to the rescue too. What a clever idea for such a common problem!

Dove Clinical Strength

I enjoyed reviewing this product. The product does work very well. The application isn’t too sticky either. I was expecting a nasty, sticky gel kind of product but was pleasantly surprised at how close to normal this product is in application. I reviewed this product in the fall/winter but look forward to giving it a full-on test in the summer. Good Product.

Chalkboard Tee

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

I honestly had no idea what this t-shirt was going to be until it arrived and I was completely in awe! I have five children full-time and they all wished they had one (especially my 15 year old son!). What a creative idea. I ordered a small for my youngest but in retrospect I think this would make a totally awesome gift for an older child. They could have a ton of fun at school or church letting their friends write on it! If there is a design with chalkboard on the back….just imagine! I only wish I’d thought of the idea. This is a very fun and creative product.

Shi Shu Baby Blanket

Monday, January 5th, 2009

I opened up the Shi Shu blanket and gave it to my two-year-old daughter and she lifted it up to her face, snuggled it and fell asleep within two minutes. Promise! This blanket is soft and fairly thick. I think it is absolutely the perfect weight. Not to thick and not too thin. The weight should definitely hold up to numerous washings. I ordered the pink and it is a wonderful textured look and feel. It is the perfect size too for babies through toddlers. Great product.

Holding Fast: The Untold Story of the Mount Hood Tragedy By Karen James

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!  I was afraid it was going to be too sad, I was actually a bit nervous when I ordered it.  Karen James is an excellent writer and I was very impressed on how well she wrote her story.  I'm certain it was a difficult process.

This book is indeed a "heart jerker".  I felt like I was able to know the family and feel like I was actually a part of the entire process that Karen and her family went through.  It was actually an inspiring story, surprisingly so.

I believe that when our souls connect in love and through faith, the ones who go before us never really leave our side.  If I remain still enough and pray for God to comfort me, I am filled with the wonderful, memorable joy of my husband's love.

I won't share my absolute favorite quote in the book with you you'll have to read it to get that one.  Karen James was, and is, a truly blessed woman and she knows it and she has shared it with all of us so each of us can find hope and faith.

Did I say that this was an excellent book?  Well it is! GO GET IT!!!! I am actually inspired to do a little research and actually drop the author a note of appreciation for sharing her heart with me.

The Lucky One

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
By Nicholas Sparks Logan Thibault, a U.S. Marine, finds a photograph of a beautiful young woman while on one of his three tours of duty in Iraq.  After eleven life defying ordeals his buddies believe he has made a pact with the devil.  He thinks the photograph is a lucky charm and thus carries it with him always. Once back in the United States more unfortunate events happen but yet he is spared yet gain.   He eventually walks from Colorado to North Carolina in search of this woman to somehow pay her back for being his lucky charm.  She's a single mother and Logan finds himself attracted to her. I was disappointed with this book.  After Nicholas Spark's other books I was expecting high romance intertwined with adventure.  I kept waiting and waiting and waiting for the excitement.  This was a sweet story about their romance blossoming but I thought a book by this author should definitely have some twists and surprises.  There was a bit of action but only in the last few chapters.  Maybe if I wasn't expecting another "The Notebook" I wouldn't have been disappointed so badly. Read it and tell me what you think!
