A book from the “If You Give . . .” series

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
If You Give a Cat a Cupcake is written by Laura Numeroff  and illustrated by Felicia Bond. What a silly book!  And what child doesn't like silliness.  My children are always asking the "what if" questions.  This book (and others by this author) are prefect for this type of thinking and reminds me of Flylady's SHEs (side-tracked home executives).  The little cat jumps from thought to thought and place to place quickly as each new idea brings about a new and different idea or place to visit!   And always a mess to be made!  This is a quick read and perfect for three to seven year olds.  I would even bet that some seven year olds could read this to a younger sibling! Disclosure: This book was graciously sent to me by HarperCollins Publishing.

If You Give a Cat a Cupcake is.... strange little book, how be it very colorful.  The story is about a cat who is continually getting side-tracked!  The little girl just wants to give him a cupcake, but he wants sprinkle on it, which takes them on many, many adventures.

The adventure takes us to the beach, the gym, rock climbing, rowing, carousel, museum, back to the beach, back home and finally back to that cupcake!  Whew...what a distracted cat!

The illustrations in this book are very good, there are a lot of items point out and discuss.

A very, very different book, I'd say.
