Fancy Nancy’s Favorite Fancy Words From Accessories to Zany

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!  This is only my second encounter with Fancy Nancy and I love her!  My kids love her!

An alphabet book for a princess; I can imagine my girls saying to me or to some stranger: "My mom's clothes are so understated."  Or instead of asking if we are going somewhere, they'll say, "Are we going on an excursion today, Mom?"  Or me saying, "K, you have a knack for getting your sisters to help you get the job done fast!"

The book cover is glittery and the illustrations are so busy!  So fun.  This is the book for a girly-girl, a smart word loving girly-girl!

Disclosure: This book was graciously sent to me by HarperCollins Publishing.

Fancy Nancy's favorite words from Accessories to Zany is written by Jane O'Conner and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser. This book has a sparkly cover that attracted my 7 and 5 year old girls right away. Mommy loved the book too but not because of the pictures but because having a 1st grader and pr-k girls they are always mommy what this is and whats that. We all sat down and read the book and they immediatly started using some of the other words. This is such a pretty girly book perfect for any  little princess. It has now become a regular book asked for in our house during reading time.

From Accessories to Zany (Fancy Nancy) By Jane O'connor

Our favorite little diva comes back to us again.  This time she is using 26 special "fancy" words in this alphabetical guide to enhancing vocabulary. What a fun book!

Why say trip when you can go on an excursion. Light purple is boring but lavender is enchanting.  Initials is to ordinary but monogram is spectacular! To yearn instead of want, how grown up!

The illustrations are detailed and exciting.  Each time you read it you can see new things!

My eight year old daughter loves this book. She says it is a very, very good vocabulary book!  This book is a great way of combining education with fun.

Fancy Nancy’s Favorite Fancy Words

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Tonight my girls and I enjoyed Fancy Nancy's Favorite Fancy Words.  My 2 year old lasted about 30 seconds and moved on to getting into other things while my attention was focused on the book and my 4 year old.  The book is listed as being geared towards children 4-7, so that would explain why the younger one cut out early.  My oldest daughter and I really enjoyed this book.  The cover is very girly with pretty colors, glitter, and a shiney finish.  The book would defintely be a great gift book for a girls birthday.  The eye catching illustation is carried from the cover thru the entire book.  This book not only has great pictures, but also provides a learning opportunity by introducing a word for each letter of the alphabet, the definition of the word, as well as an example.  To help kids have more of an understanding, the pictures on each page give a visual example of what the word means.  This book will defintely be in our personal library for a long time and is the perfect book for a household with 3 little girls.
