Three Steps to Clever Cleaning

Monday, December 8th, 2008
Three Steps to Clever Cleaning is part of 1-2-3..Get Organized Mini-Book Series.  When I received these I was expecting a mini book, but was really surprised how mini they were.  These books are super easy reads.  Rather then taking you room by room, it gives you suggestions for what you need to do most of your cleaning as well as some different methods of cleaning.   While reading through this book, I thought this would be the perfect gift for a bride or a newly SAHM.  When my husband and I got married we both moved out of our parents home into an apartment.  I would love to have had this kind of book as we started our new home together.  With the holiday's approaching, this book (as well as the other ones available) would be a perfect stocking stuffer.  Of the whole book, my favorite section is the chapter on periodic cleaning.  Each month has a task that needs to be done once or twice a year.  Some of these jobs are easy to overlook, but with this schedule its easy to keep up with them and makes it less likely that you would forget or overlook them.  Check this book out if you need a place to start your cleaning or just want some tips to help maximize the cleaning time you have available. This little mini book is the perfect size to read with tons of good info in it. It is written by Beverly Coggins. It is part of the 1-2-3 ...get organized series. It gives you step by step instruction that will have you running to organize that dreaded room or rooms in your house that you even hate to go into. A lot of books on organization are just to long that by the time you are done reading it u don't have the energy or the want to do it anymore. But not this book I am ready as soon as I am done writing this to get busy on my bedroom, can't wait to put some of her ideas to good use.If you are interested in this book or any of her other ones the website is www.1-2-3GetOrganized.com

Three Steps to Organizing Your Child’s Room

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008
The room my girls sleep in is a disaster.  There is no organization; the toys have no homes; the clothes have only one option - to hang - because there are no dressers, only a handful of shelves and a couple baskets.  The other items in the room include a bunk bed and a toddler bed.  This book has been very helpful in giving me a plan, or at least helping to develop one.  The author offers three steps to a neat child's bedroom - declutter (an ongoing process here), rearranging / organizing, and maintaining.  With a couple of birthdays coming up we decided to do something about the state of this area of our home.  We don't have a lot in the room at this point and the book is helpful, but the book has so many suggestions for those with too much stuff and for those overwhelmed by the quantity of items that a room can hold.  There are great suggestions regardless of the state of your child's bedroom. Three Steps to Organizing your Kitchen

Monday, October 6th, 2008
Well this book could not have arrived at my mailbox at a better time.  This week I planned to focus on my kitchen cleanup.  All my canning supplies are still out and I will not be doing any more in the near future.  However, these items do not have a home as we bought them new this fall.  I need to reorganize!  And I learned something new - the triangle concept in the kitchen between the stove, refrigerator and the sink.  Well, that does not exist in my home!!  My fridge is on a totally different floor!  Anyway, I am still hoping to apply the principles of keeping like items in the same general area and getting those things that do not belong out of the room.  The three basic principles are get rid of the excess, rearrange what you've kept and keep it organized. For more information or to purcahse this book check out hte following links at Amazon and 1-2-3 Get Organized.
