A book about the seasons.  Old Bear goes to hibernate late in the winter season; it's already snowing.  He dreams of being young again and of experiencing the changing seasons for the first time as an imaginative little cub.

Water color paint and ink.  The use of color in the book is beautiful!  Kevin Henkes uses his mediums very effectively.  I especially like the autumn page bat that could be because I consider that particular season to be my favorite.

The story is extremely simple, but imaginative.  Child-like, without being childish.  On the back jacket cover, some of Kevin Henkes' other works are mentioned.  After reading and enjoying Old Bear I am interested in checking out these other titles from our local library!

Disclosure: This book was graciously sent to me by HarperCollins Publishing.
